I had the pleasure of working with jewelry maker, Joy Franklin, of A Thousand Joys in Florence, Italy, as her first intern. Each day, I walked 45 minutes across the Arno River to her studio in the traditional artisan quarter of the city, getting to know her craft and taking in the amazing environment.
As Marketing & Photography Intern for a rising small business, I worked with Joy on developing her brand, product photography, social media presence, online store, inventory catalog, and long term marketing strategies.
A Thousand Joys had amassed a decent following prior to my internship, with Joy recently making the leap to fulltime jewelry making. Through new product photography and coaching on long term marketing and ecommerce strategies, A Thousand Joys has increased followers on social media by 50%, helped her Etsy store become sustainable, and enabled Joy to expand into the wholesale market.
My favorite project for A Thousand Joys was creating this promotional video of Joy's process and artisan philosophy. What we lacked in professional equipment, we made up in empathetic storytelling.
