In an effort to study and understand the foundations of storytelling, especially from an empathy lense, I took a class called Writing for Stage and Screen, a cross-disciplinary 300-level English and Theater course, during the spring of 2016.
While learning about playwriting, we were challenged to write our own 10-minute play. I wrote a tale that explored humanity during the zombie apocalypse. The title pays homage to a line Morgan from The Walking Dead said, where he discussed his philosophy that all life is precious, even during the apocalypse, and how he strove to live a nonviolent lifestyle.
The following fall, my play was chosen to be produced by the Drury University Theater Department! It was such an honor and totally surreal seeing my words come to life, acted by my fellow peers.
